Parikshaguru is a unique online testing
concept which seeks to fill the huge gap between the enormous development in the
field of information technology coupled with our ever increasing level of
comfort with it and it availability for our education-related needs. The genesis
of Parikshaguru lies in the recognition of the fact that today’s generation is
an Orkut generation. Our youth feels more comfortable on internet. He enjoys
chatting on messenger—he/she loves creating his profile and his own online
community as well as joining other existing online communities like MySpace,
ORKUT. When it comes to studying—to find out new information and solving his
problems—he/she prefers to log on to Wikipedia than to visit the nearest
book-store or university library. But there is a big lacuna here. Today’s youth
may prefer to study online—he/she may find relevant information online
effortlessly, but when it comes to testing his/her knowledge, he/she has no
options. The only way he/she can do it is by visiting a traditional coaching
institute—many of which are run by totally unprofessional people, who keep on
circulating same set of questions again and again—where a large number of
students get same question-set—where the quality and authenticity of question is
ever-doubtful—where answers are often disputable. In other words, they, at best,
work as a patchwork between his preparation and final examination.
In such a scenario, Parikshaguru seeks to fill the void in testing arena.
Parikshaguru is not just any other online examination site—it is a unique
concept in itself. It claims its uniqueness due to the following facts:
Parikshaguru achieves this by following a unique methodology—
(a.) Each subject of the examination is divided into maximum
number of distinct and independent modules which are further sub-divided into a
maximum number of sub-modules.
(b.) A large number of questions are formed which are grouped
under three levels of difficulty—difficult, medium and easy.
(c.) These questions are formed by the experts in their
respective fields who have more than 15 years of experience of teaching that
particular subject for that particular examination. The questions writers are
not just the experts in their respective field, but more importantly, they are
the exam experts who know the nitty-gritty of that particular examination—they
know which type of question are asked in that exam, what is the current trend
etc.
(d.) This data base of questions is regularly updated so as to
remove old and no-more-relevant out-of-trend question to be replaced by the new
ones. These two factors—an intelligent division and sub-division of subject into
modules, and sub-module and into different levels of difficulty AND a very big
data bank of questions—which play a very important role in the uniqueness of the
concept—that is Parikshaguru.
(e.) Since question paper is generated at the time of writing
of the examination and is not pre-prepared, it is ensured that each student gets
a unique set of questions, but since a very large number of variables are taken
into consideration, it is again ensured that everyone gets similar questions.
Nobody can claim that his/her questions are more (or less) difficult. A fair
amount of uniformity is maintained across the question papers. It is because of
this fact that one’s marks obtained in a test in Parikshaguru will be a very
accurate prediction of his marks that he/she is most likely to get in the real
examination.
(f.) Parikshaguru is further different from other such online
sites because it is sort of simulation site in which the question paper is
designed and presented in such a way that it almost exactly simulates the actual
examination that the student will be writing. That is, the student will be given
the whole question paper at one go (in other online testing sites, questions are
presented one by one.) and the student is free to move to and fro and from any
question to any other question. He can also mark a question which may seem to
him confusing and which he wishes to try later. To finally mark his answer, he
is given an OMR sheet which is identical to the OMR sheets of actual
examinations. This helps the students to keep a better track of his time and
spare enough time for filling up the OMR sheet which he must do in real
examination.
